After four decades of dedicated service, John P. Itell, CPA and CVA, will retire from Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell (ACMI), marking the end of an extraordinary career that has left a lasting impact on the firm, its clients, and the Hagerstown community.
John joined ACMI in 1985 and became a Partner in 1991. Over the years, he has been instrumental in expanding the firm’s services and growing its client base. Known for his thoughtful approach to blending personal and business financial goals, John has helped countless clients maximize their wealth and navigate complex financial landscapes.
His career has evolved alongside the accounting profession. From traditional services like tax preparation and financial statement analysis to advanced business consulting and valuation services, John has continually adapted and refined his expertise. His specialization in valuing closely held businesses has made him a trusted advisor in the region.
A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore, John holds a B.S. in Business and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the West Virginia Board of Accountancy.
Beyond his professional achievements, John has been a pillar of the Hagerstown community. He has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Community Foundation of Washington County, Mason Dixon Boy Scout Council, Breast Cancer Awareness of the Cumberland Valley, Children In Need, Inc., and Hagerstown Community College. His leadership extended to the business community as well, with board roles at the Family Heritage Trust Company in Frederick, MD, and Centra Financial/United Bank in Hagerstown.
In recognition of his contributions, John was named Business Person of the Year by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce in 2013.
As John prepares for retirement, he has been transitioning his clients to other dedicated partners in the firm who will continue to provide the same level of professionalism and expertise.
